John 19:26-27 So when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple who was dear to him, he said to his mother, Mother, there is your son! Then he said to the disciple, There is your mother! And from that hour the disciple took her to his house.

Jesus, while he was hanging on the cross, took special notice of his mother below. Despite the pain he was going through, he felt the most the sorrow his mother has. Jesus knows the grief that covers his mother’s heart so he took time to let Mary know that he only left and that she is with so many family, friends and relatives left. Jesus, in his compassion, even left her in the care of John.

Jesus knew how painful it is for us to lose someone we love through death. But being God Himself, he even suffered being forsaken by the Father for the greater purpose of fulfilling God’s redemptive plan for us.

Thus, the greatest consolation we can give people in sorrow is by making them realize the bigger picture in God’s plan and that while we remain on earth as the ones left behind, it is an opportunity for us to spend time with other people close to our heart.

Lord, thank You for the consolation You always gives us whenever sorrow and pain surrounds us. May we always remember Lord that even You experienced pain and that You have a greater purpose in our life. May we continue living for You despite our losses and spend our time with other people with gladness and gratitude. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Love,
Kathy

May God grant the godly desires of your heart ❤
