The days now are hard. Crimes, poverty and calamities hit us everywhere and every time. Persecution is everywhere.

But aren’t we commanded still to love? We are commanded by Jesus to love each other. Not that the people are easy to love, but because we are called to imitate Him. So, in light of the events in our days now, how are we to show this love that Jesus has instructed us to do?

But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in Godʼs love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. (Jude 1:20‭-‬21 NIV)

  1. Build up one another. This means that we are to encourage one another to continue in the faith and knowledge of God. We are called to be the salt of the earth. Our actions and words should build relationships, not destroy them.
  2. Pray in the Holy Spirit. As believers, we were given as a gift a power that gives us authority like Jesus had during His time on earth. We should always desire to be filled by the Holy Spirit. As such, we must pray in the Holy Spirit to help us each and every moment. The Spirit teaches us, rebukes us and empowers us. It is God’s power dwelling within us.
  3. Keep yourselves in God’s love. See, this is a command. To remain and abide in God is simply not just a mental act but should encompass every aspect of our being. We must surrender ourselves to the grace and love of Jesus and allow His love to flow in and through us. What more rest can we find other than the great love of the Father?

Persevere! Though the days are difficult, the love of God within us should overpower any form of persecution and hardships we face. We are called to persevere! Again, I say,  PERSEVERE!
