I am guilty of this. I know in my heart that I have accepted Jesus as my Savior but a more important question to ask is this:
Is Jesus Christ the Lord of my life?

Lordship means one being lord or master over someone. If you are an employee, your employer is your master. When you have debts, your creditors are your masters. As a Jesus-believer, Jesus Christ should be my Lord.

Yet, this does not seem the case for some instances in my life. Still, there are days when I would outrightly ignore what I know would please my Lord and instead, do things my way. If I am being lorded or mastered by anything, all the things I do, things I desire and my spoken words should glorify and please my Master.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Godʼs mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. (Romans 12:1 NIV)

It all boils down to surrendering my life completely to Jesus. Complete surrender is 100%, not 99.9%. Surrender means you relinquish your right and control over everything in your life–dreams, desires, relationships. Everything means ALL, not compartmentalizing the areas of your life and giving God majority but not everything.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Godʼs will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2 NIV)

I fail everytime. But I have this faith that His Grace always abound to accept me over and over again as long as I keep running back to Him. I have more to develop when it comes to surrendering to Jesus. But taking the first step to admitting my hurts, habits and hang-ups is already grace in itself.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, help me to live a life of surrender to You. Teach me to glorify You always. Create in me a clean heart that desires to please You always. In Jesus’ Name, amen!
